WHAT DO WE DO
We enable those who feel called to a more profound relationship with God to realise this calling within the type of world we now live in. We are a new form of consecrated life and are aware of the Church's encouragement of the inevitable new communities. We provide for celibates in the society who make Vows, and married individuals, as Associates, who make Promises. We allow for group living in our constitution but this is more likely to arise when our numbers increase. At present we are a dispersed community living in different Dioceses which has manifested a rich variety of local mission where each person can use their talents, energy, potential and training where the need arises in their Parish, Deanery or Diocese thus helping to build communion in the local Church. Our main DOING is guided by our vision and the expectations of our constitution where we have opted to live by the spirit |
of the Rule of the Franciscan 3rd Order Regular. Our choice of service will be linked with Ecumenism in its broadest sense, especially Christian Unity, as also a variety of Franciscan concerns eg. the environment, respect for Creation, the spiritually and materially poor, justice, peace and other appropriate forms of service. Our collective DOING is inspired and motivated by our commitment. It is shared and mutually encouraged by a supportive community who meet regularly; it is also encouraged by our on-going study as we realise we need to equip ourselves for understanding the Church, modern issues and local mission. We base all our DOING upon a stable prayer/spiritual life. We are constantly refreshing our understanding and practice of both. Our personal integrity is helped by the compulsory use of a personal programme. |
